SCOTLAND BABY

so we just got back to London, from our 4 day trip to Scotland, which was AMAZINGGGG

- slept for 4 hours in the lovely, spacious, hospitable, and accomodating Luton Airport
- arrived in Glasgow totally pooped and paid 3 pounds to take a 5 hr much needed power nap
- strolled around East End of Glasgow ie. Hastings Street, and met a few "good" people
- the most memorable person we met, was an old man at the ripe age of 70, who was just completely smashed. he definitely laid down some knowledge on us. Firstly, he felt "[leanne] looks just like my 1st wife, but i've never been married."
- we asked him where to find the best and cheapest scotch in glasgow.....and he replied "i am sooo drunk, i'm just on my way to another bar....uhhh cheapest scotch......?? cheapest scotch?? ....uhh i don't want to lay down a mortgage...."
- he also gave us some insight on our career choices:
winston:business...pfft look at this guy!?
ethan: historian....you're never going to make money
gilbert: pharamacology....what?? oh so you're a drug addict!
leanne: psychology...i'm a crazy person!

- went straight to People's Palace only to find that it was closed :(
- went to a crazy burger shack where a Turkish and Scottish guy were blown away that we didn't have cobblestone streets in Canada, thought we were insane to spend about $5000 to travel europe, and loved us tons more after he realized we weren't americans who as he said "spoke bullshit"
we asked them what Scots in Glasgow do for fun and their reply: "oh you can't imagine..." ie. they be doin some crazy smack
- walked the entire ghetto area of Glasgow in an hour
- walked through George Square where we were discriminated against by these 2 indian boys who thought they were smooth operators and went "HEY CHINA!!!"( in the strongest indian accent ever heard)
- called it a day, and booked a tour with TIMBERBUSH to see Scottish Highlands, Glencoe, & Loch Ness!!!

DAY 2: TIMBERBUSH TOUR
- 6:30 am wake up call....only to wake up to the tragic news of the canucks being ousted by the hawks....DAAAAAMNNIITT.
- tour with GRANT, our Scottish tour guide
- drove up to Loch Lomond, which includes passing by all these LOCHS (aka lakes) ...including Loch Ness where Nessie lives

- the drive was like the Hope- Princeton highway but 10x better
- saw tree lines that were spectacular, extinct volcanoes, sheeps sheeps and more sheeps, and hairy ass brown furry cows
- stopped for tons of photo-ops by the lochs
- had our first chotchy meal at Loch Ness
ethan: cullen skink which was smoked fish/potatoes and weird shit in soup
leanne: sun blushed tomato and chicken sandwich
gilly: soup n roll
wins: free water
- by the time we got back it was 8pm......and we made our way to edinborough

Luton Airport

hey guys, so i guess this is the first blog post of the trip, with all four of us here. leanne, gilbert, and winston are all trying to sleep right now, because it's 12:30 am and we are stuck waiting in this small airport until our flight which isnt til 7:10am....(trying to go to glasgow, scotland)

FKLdjiosdulanguielandsguioflajgil;fmsda

but anywho, tough break, and so i'm just sitting here on some computer, paying 1 pound for 10 minutes trying to get myself tired.

over our last two days, we have done SOOOOOO MUCHHHDHCHCH, i would put up pictures, but i dont think i can.

but here's a quick list of what we've done in london so far..

-tower of london

-london bridge

-the imperial war museum

-ROMEO AND JULIET!!! (in the actual shakespeare globe theater)

- buckingham palace or..what gilbert calls it 'f-ingham palace' --> the sweetest themed porno eveer

- two parks, (hyde and green park) which ended up being about 10 stanley parks in total and about 15X nicer

- we also ate some sick asssss KFC

- we went to abbey road, where the beatles recorded the album and what not

i'm rreally not sure what else we've done, and i've probably missed a few things. but london has been great to us. despite many near-death experiences (looking the wrong way when crossing streets...man, we looked stupid), and the subway system has been friggin awesome.

anyways, i have 45 seconds left on this computer.

farewell, and hopefully i can give a better update sooner than later.

HELLOOO FROM IRELAND!! THE LAND OF LEPRECHAUNS!!!

So currently, Winston and Gilbert are chillin' in my living room. Yes, this is Vicki in person (with an I) and the two boys are lazy and making fun of this blog HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA (thus, me updating here). okay, so we are mildly buzzed and had an awesome night out in Temple Bar, which is the bar/pub district of Dublin. I met up with them after my horrid final exam and we headed to Doyle's, a favourite pub amongst students. Spent what felt like 30 minutes there (but actually 2 hours) drinking one pint of freakin Guinness - by the way, GUINNESS IS GOOD FOR YOU (supported by the bartender at Doyle's). By the way, this started at 8pm for me. And started at 6pm for Winston and Gilbert ghetto drinking in St. Stephen's Green park who jumped a fence to hide next to a waterfall (too cheap to go into a bar, quote).

As we made our way towards the Temple Bar district, THIS HAPPENED *see video*:

First stop was Oliver St. Gogarty's, a nice traditional Irish pub (but also very touristy). Even though it was stated "21 & over only", we walked right in and were welcomed by a crazy group of Italians and Danes dancing to YMCA. We joined in right away for a couple tunes and they loved us, assumingly so because we were Chinese. OH YES, some random girl started dancing on a table and Gilbert looked like he really wanted to dance on the table as well, and quote "but there's no room for me there" and quote me "oh but there's room NEXT on the table next to her!!" and before you know it, he's dancing on the table doing some scuba move hahaha, then he got kicked off. Freakin HILARIOUS.

Afterwards, we went to the Quays Bar right across and listened to an acoustic session by 2 irishmen, it was very nice and quaint but Winston had had enough so we left halfway through HAHA. Back this random couple outside who kept saying "ni hao ni hao" and thought Winston was cute and we took pictures with them and had nice drunken conversations with the sexiest man in Ireland (we never said that). Okay it's really hard to type buzzed and the boys wanted me to mention that I got drunk off a pint of Guinness - I was only following in their direction of NOT EATING ALL DAY (in order to get drunk faster lol).

Went back to Oliver St. Gogartys but this time there was a bouncer who obviously tried to ID us. Being under 21, we were like "oh but we were here before!! just let us back in haha" and he was like "id please" and we were like again "BUT WE WERE HERE BEFORE!! EVERYONE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEES US IN THERE!! SERIOUSLY, WE WERE LIKE THE LIFE OF THE PARTY!!! YOU HAVE TO LET US BACK IN!!!!" and the bouncer was like "id please" and then we were like "HELLOOO THEY LOVE US IN THERE, WE KNOW THEM!!! AND WE'RE CHINESE!!!!" and then he was like "are you even over 21?" and gilbert and winston were like "we're 19" and then he checked gilbert's id (which states him as being 18 btw) and just let us in. SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So after sneaking another can of Carlsberg into Winston's stolen Guinness glass from Doyle's, we got stared down by some black man who came out of nowhere (he was actually the washroom attendant but the boys don't know better and just took soap from him without tipping him, the horror). Then we met up with my other friend visitng from Vancouver, Matt and that was awesome. There were 2 old irishmen, John and Mark at the bar *with* whom I chatted up obviouslyyyyyyy. There were from Dublin and decided to check out the bar cause it looked like good CRAIC (an irish slang thing, look it up). So we were just dancing away to random old school songs such as SWEET CAROLINE and 9-5 and O-BLA-DI O-BLA-DA (that took a while to write) and convinced John to dance with us as well. He had seen Gilbert dancing on the table earlier that night and really liked his dancing, quote. Mark was a bit more shy but he soon came on the dance floor to and we sang epically to 500 MILES. AND I WILL WALK 500 MILES AND I WILL WALK 500 MORE.

Being cheap, we had planned tonight so that we could catch the last bus back home (therefore, starting so early). I really wanted John or Mark to dance on the table because it's been my lifelong dream to see an irishman dance in an irish pub, and it actually is the only thing needed for me to complete my irish experience here in Dublin. So anyways, I told John and Mark this and they were like "no no no no" and I was like COME ONNNN LIFE LONG DREAM YO COME ONNNNNNN PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and then Mark seemed like he would do it, and he was like "okay fine, but definitely not to Neil Diamond right now - and you have to clear that barrell off too" and i was like "DONE DEAL" and proceeded to take the glass on the barrell away from 2 random guys who had been watching us the entire night being fools.

Another song comes on and Mark literally runs to the barrell and jumps on top of it, almost hitting his head on the ceiling ornaments. It was so freakin epic seeing him dance up there, and then he jumped back down HAHAHHA. I have a video somewhere. Then we said our sad goodbyes and now we're here, having eaten two 2euro pizzas from tesco and gilbert is about to pass out and Winston is updating his journal (but not this blog, because i mean, why would he do that?)

WE ARE LISTENING AND SINGING TO ROBBIE WILLIAM'S "ANGEL"
RIGHT NOW AND IT IS SAWEEEEEEEEEEEEET. I'M LOVIN ANGELS INSTEAD...AND THROUGH IT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSHE OFFERS PROTECTION ALOTTA LOVE AND AFFECTION WHETHER IM RIGHT OR WRONG AND DOWN THE WATERFALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLWHEREVERIT MAKE TAKE ME I KNOW THAT LIFE WON'T BRAKE ME, WHEN I COME TO CALL SHE WON'T FOREASAKE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I'M LOVING ANGELS INSTEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (typed exactly as sung)

okay i can' ttype anymore, too much to comprehend. but here is the brief lowdown on winston and gilbert's ireland trip.

Day 1: free walking tour of dublin, trip to howth (a nice harbour town north of dublin) which included hiking up 85 degrees and jumping fences and pint at temple bar temple bar

Day 2: tour of glendalough, a monastery site with beautiful "rustic" (quote gilbert, you gotta include the word rustic) scenary, and night out in temple bar (aka the post you just read)

Day 3 (yet to happen): go to Galway, a sweet bohemian student town west of Dublin
Day 4: biking on the sweetass Aran Islands WHAT WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT

ciao gangstas. stay cool.

Buona Sera!!

Ciao! Amico!

We are glad to inform everyone that GillyBear and HoHo have arrived safely in Ireland. They're are currently exploring with Vicky and have gone on their first hike (? - need confirmation on that) and *cross your fingers* we'll hear from them soon, pictures, and stories hopefully! From what we've gathered though, they are safe, swine-flu-free and in good hands!!!

While, here in Vancouver, E, Lea, Nai and Tifa are still prepping for their exit. With final preparations to complete we are pleased to announce the name for our travel friend, THE GNOME!

drum roll please!

Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you, the one and only, MURRAY a.k.a. Rhys Darby; )

His suitcase adds for the perfect twist we want for our little Murray. He is flyest looking travel gnome ever. Murray will be accompanying us on the Eiffel Tower, the Trevi fountain, the Casa Batllo, and the gondala rides etc. Be sure to look out for his pictures!

For those who don't know where this name came from, well, you need to get out of your little box you call your life, and check out Flight of the Conchords. It'll be so good, we guarantee it'll be the SUGA to your LUMPS. Still lost? Click here. Enjoy! haha

Anyway, back to this Eurasian thing. Like we previously mentioned, we have been completing our final preparations, getting our packs fitted, packing lists and whatever else.

Tonight, Nai and Tifa were playing around with their packs and figuring out a very detailed packing list, they were going to do a dry pack but it didn't fall through. Eventually, we just put books and whatever else that would weigh the pack down, and yeah, if we're drunk, and half conscious, you could tip us over like a drunk kid tips a cow. checkkk it.

This is Nai's pack, Tifa's is maroon and grey, but still, check that out! It's huge, it's fat, but it's still nice! We have to dirty them up or else we'll have packs that say "ROB US, WE'RE NEWBS" Anyway, that's all for now!

Be sure to check out our COUNTER, or rather, count DOWNER on the right hand side of your screen, it'll keep you up to date with our big days/events!

Post.Script.

If you guys would like, please send us your full name & address to eurasianinvasion@gmail.com for a snail mail surprise : )

Buona Notte!

Qui sommes-nous?

As previously noted in our description and profile, we are six friends, traveling through Europe together. We are an eclectic group with a wide range of things we want to see in Europe, so hopefully, we'll be able to show you our pictures and share our stories as the days go by! With traveling interests and alpha order, we are:

Ethan Wong - the history, the lifestyle & the night life
Gilbert - the lifestyle, the culture & the night life
Leanne Siu - the lifestyle, the culture & the beaches
Naomi Ma - the lifestyle, culture & the night life
Tiffany Lam - the lifestyle, culture & the beaches
Winston Ho - the nitty gritty, the nature & the liquor store ; )

** of course we all have one main focus at that is to LIVE EUROPE. BREATHE EUROPE. and EMBRACE EUROPE. But with that said, we all have personal interests. We all pretty much have similar ones, but it's broken down above just so you get an idea of what to expect (themes & subjects etc.) when we each blog our own posts.

p.s. the gnome WILL be traveling with us. We have yet to name him. But we will definitely be bringing this little guy around!!

Aurevoir!

CIAO!

Welcome, welcome, one and all.

So you're probably thinking, how did this come to be, this "eurasianinvasion" shenanigan? Well, it's quite simple really. We had our final EuroTrip 'o9 meeting yesterday afternoon, and we decided to create a blog as a form of communication with our friends while we're trekking through Europe.

We had a couple names to decide from, ranging from Swinesensazn, or swinesensasian, or swinesazn or swineflu'sourbitch ....you get the idea. haha we thought we were going to take a funny twist on Swine Flu, but then we thought, knock on wood* what if...?

So we decided upon EURASIANINVASION. I mean, we are, afterall, six asians, vancouverites, "invading" Europe : )

We will be updating as often as possible, posting videos and pictures, and writing about our adventures here! Leave us comments, and wish lists and whatever else! Of course, we are backpacking on a limited amount of wealth so please understand if we come back with bottles of sand/dirt instead of luxurious Lambos and Venetian masks haha!

Ciao!
